Probing On My First Medium Article.
Hi there, this is my first piece of writing on medium. As you read on, I will share some of my experiences with you — the inspirations behind having this post here as a step unto my professional writing career, and what I think would follow afterwards.
I should warn though, I have been what I’d call a mix of a creative & [a bit of] a tacky writer throughout my primary, and even my high school education. But this doesn’t daunt my search for proficiency at content writing or other closely related Skillset, and I’ll tell you why.
In Summary, It’s The Promising Pay.
Hey! don’t poke me already! I am a business and tech enthusiast with so much love for learning and affecting my world to a great deal. But I do also feel I need to be honest and blunt about what I aim to achieve as a writer. The goal behind starting my writing career is to communicate as much value to my potential audience and focus on a long-termed scale of passive income to sustain other personal projects. Whilst the money factor is a strong propellant at the moment, I’m also open to other motivating factors as I extend my professional timeline.
Mix 1 & 2, KABOOM! My Writing Journey Sparked.
Writing to me has been a norm and was a boring one. I had to do it in school simply to have good grades, and no extracurricular activity ever prompted me to explore depths until a few whiles back. What really birthed the idea of adding content writing to my Skillset was an informative article I read that talked about the concepts of dreaming in a very interesting and classy manner that plunged my understanding. I still remember being in the beautiful chaos that the written words of the author created in my mind, I also cannot fail to remember the sticky google ads pane that persisted as I scrolled down the page; the entire experience, mixing one and two, was what I’ll call a perfect equation right for the spark of affection for writing.
Big talk, Small beginnings.
Weeks passed by with that same article whirling through my mind occasionally, I had already begun reading articles and write-ups way more critically than I used to. It completely transformed my mindset about writing. I saw writers as gods — we create writings, stories, and contents with the ability to change people’s minds and potential future.
Shortly, my elder brother and I discussed “writing” as a career. He discovered my love for writing in that discussion. He was so interested in my love for writing that he encouraged me to start my career as a freelance writer. I felt so confident as he was ready to sponsor my full learning process, I agreed on starting my career as a freelance writer showing no form of hesitation as I was already nursing love for writing.
My Basic Learning Begins.
My brother and I researched Udemy for good writing courses. We discovered most of the courses I consumed [on Udemy]. All the courses were perfect, I loved one of them the most and would advise writers to learn from it. I downloaded some pdf; I was so interested in writing and made it one of my major priority. I was writing as I was learning, to build my experience and confidence as a writer.
Knowledge in a competitive field is never enough.
After I finished with those Udemy courses, I began reading blogs and different articles. I used Youtube to learn more about writing. I knew my learning would always continue. For, I would cherish to maintain my status as a writer for as long as I can.
After I discovered could be productive with my writing skills to the very least, I joined some writing workshops on some social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and some Whatsapp groups. I also joined some writing sites like Contently and Contena. Writers who are getting started with freelancing should publicise themselves on those platforms. They are free and beneficial to writers.
In the meantime, I would continue to advance my skill in different forms of writing.
I would also write more articles on personal development on medium. I want you to expect more from me and be part of the people to watch me get to the top.
